Fence Insurance Repairs Cover

As the onus is now on the Home Owner to ensure insurance coverage, it would pay to check your insurance policy first to see what it covers regarding your fences. If you are in any doubt with the wording in your policy, contact your insurer for clarification. What you think they are saying and what they said, can mean you are not covered, so ask for their clarification in writing.

Also check by-laws re boundary fence obligations.

Check if the fence is on the boundary or inside it, the latter will be your responsibility.

If you are a landlord and the fence failure is due to lack of maintenance, you may have some responsibility in the matter. So, check out the Department of Building and Housing website (www.dbh.govt.nz), or call 0800 TENANCY (0800 836 262).

Has a tree fallen across your fence or a car travelled across your property and damaged your fences, these are likely to be insurance jobs, which can take time.

In the meantime, we can brace the damaged fence to make it safe until it’s ready to be replaced, we remove damaged fences. Once the insurance claim has been sorted and you are ready to progress, we then fix or install the new fences and leave your property looking like new again. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way.
